Metatron (Hebrew מטטרון, prob. Derived from the Latin metator: “one who measures or marks a place, a divider and fixer of boundaries”, “a measurer”) or Mattatron is an archangel in Judaism, known as the angel of registration or the Chancellor of Heaven (The name Metatron is not mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, nor is it mentioned in the early Enoch literature. The origin of the name is a matter of debate. Although Metatron is mentioned in some short passages of the Talmud, he appears mainly in the mystical Kabbalistic texts within the rabbinic literature.
