Wooden pentacle mortar
A wooden mortar is a tool used to grind, crush or pound solid ingredients such as spices, herbs, seeds, incense, etc. to create a fine powder or paste.
The mortar consists of a shallow round wooden bowl and a pestle also made of wood, which is used to pound the ingredients in the bowl. Wood is chosen because of its durability and the fact that it does not react with chopped ingredients as it might with other materials such as stone or metal.
The wooden mortar can be used for a variety of purposes, such as creating custom spice blends, making incense mixes for one’s rituals, preparing herbal remedies, grinding coffee, or mincing garlic and ginger….
To keep the mortar in good condition, it is important to clean it properly after use and avoid leaving the wood submerged in water for prolonged periods.
