About the hammering process of Tibetan bells: The hammering process of Tibetan bells is done completely by hand. Each Tibetan bell is hammered following a series of procedures that will give the bell its perfect shape. During the manufacturing phase, different metals that make up the bell (copper, tin, iron, lead, gold and silver) are melted in a furnace depending on the type of bell to be obtained, such as for bronze or bronze bells. for those in seven metals. The molten metal is then poured into a mold to obtain a metal disc of the desired size and thickness. At this point, the metal disc is taken and shaped by hammering it after having carried out a careful measurement and selecting it by weight and size. As for the actual hammering process, 4 or 5 metal discs are stacked on top of each other which are then heated until they become incandescent. The glowing metal disc formed is then hammered by skilled craftsmen until the metal is no longer hot; then, it is reheated and hammered again. These two operations, heating and hammering, continue until the desired shape and size is obtained (this is why hammered Tibetan bells can have differences of a few centimeters from each other). During the hammering phase of the bells, the metal disc must be beaten when it is still incandescent, because it is more flexible. As soon as it has cooled down, the metal loses its flexibility becoming more brittle, thus risking the formation of cracks when hit. After obtaining the desired shape, the manufacturing phases of the real bell begin. Each bell is brought in the desired shape and measure, and this can be done again by first heating the metal and then shaping it by hitting it. Once the required shape and size is obtained, the bell is hammered to be perfected. The individual bells are then chiseled and finished both inside and out
