The Mjöllnir also known as Thor’s hammer, is the weapon of Thor, the god of Lightning and Thunder in Germanic mythology. It is usually represented as a hammer, although it was originally an axe or club. It is made by the dwarves, or, according to Snorri Sturluson’s 13th-century prosaic Edda, by the elf Sindri over a dispute with the god Loki over who could create the most wonderful weapon for the gods.

Thor’s hammer is undoubtedly one of the most popular ancient mythological objects today, basically thanks to Marvel’s Thor comic book and viking and epic metal bands.
